When I was younger, my writing had an emphasis on footwear. Don't ask me why. It's just one of those things. Every writer has a few "things". "Things" meaning nouns (Persons, places, things or ideals) that we like to bring up in our works. Some of them seem small and quite frankly, I haven't had an emphasis on feet in YEARS. This is my first outing in so long, but you know what? That doesn't stop the boat. It never has. With that being said, SHOES!!!
Shiny: CEO energy. You may work hard, but you have employees
Safe Treds: You work in food service and you don't wanna bust your pretty little chicklet teeth on the company floor
Tennis shoes: You are a health nut or you are a couch potato, there is no in between
Name brands (Meaning your Jordan's, your Adidas, your Sketchers… Ya know, shoes that involve bank): You have money to blow and you have no problem displaying your $$$ on your feet
Heels: You are a powerful seductress. The higher the heel, the sexier/gorgeous/powerful… *sighs* I dunno. The more everything. A woman in heels can step into a room and all eyes cannot help, but be drawn to her position
Boots: STRENGTH. Only people who dig trenches wear these. Okay, so as I've gotten older, I know this isn't true, but yeah, I've always seen boots as the poster child of strength. Because of this, all agents, be they Luminous or Noir, it doesn't matter. They all wear boots.
AOC Footwear Symbolism
*** Determined
*** Cunning
*** Fighter
*** Survivor
*** Craftsman (Or woman… Somebody shoot me the ETA on "craftsman"… Are we still allowed to say this?)
*** Wise
*** Intelligent
*** Powerful
*** Fearless
This is despite them not actually showing signs of these characteristics. The biggest example of this is I listed "intelligent" and sometimes my characters do dumb shit. Yes, I am aware this is by design, but for the most part, all my characters earned every scuff etched into their boots.
They're strong
PS: I'm kinda digging these "Scrawl Me" entries. It gives me an outlet to revisit who I was as a writer while shedding light on where I am now
It's an interesting how you used that and they are great symbols. And I like the boot break down because I've been wearing boots for a while and I think the same. A boot can do so much more then any shoe 😀
🤜🤛awesome 😁😁
